Bowling Highfield Medical Practice
We will soon be launching a new practice web site. We will update this message when a date has been set for the launch of our new site.
IMPORTANT - Covid-19 Update - September 2020
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the practice has implemented several changes as detailed below. These will be in effect until further notice.
Our HIGHFIELD site is now open for pre-scheduled planned appointments with our Nursing team only. Please be aware that all other services will continue to be run from our BOWLING site at present due to the continued pandemic, we regret that no patients will be allowed into our Highfield site without a planned appointment under any circumstances. Please accept we are working hard to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible during these uncertain times.
All GP appointments will be by TELEPHONE or VIDEO CALL only. These appointments can be booked via our online services.
For any patients who cannot be treated via telephone or video call, the GP will arrange to see you face to face. All face to face appointments will be held at our BOWLING site on Rooley Lane.
NURSE appointments will be restricted to blood tests, blood pressure checks, some screening services, child immunisations and contraceptive services. All routine chronic disease reviews and smoking cessation support will be done via telephone.
No patients will be allowed to enter our Bowling site unless they are attending an appointment or they have been asked to drop off or collect something. All prescriptions will be sent ELECTRONICALLY wherever possible. When this is not possible, prescriptions will need to be collected from our BOWLING site. It would help if patients could register with a pharmacy for their prescriptions to make the process easier for collecting prescriptions.
We will not be issuing medication earlier than it is due - there is no risk of the practice or the pharmacy closing, so there is no need to stockpile medication.

Attending the surgery for your flu vaccination appointment
Please attend your appointment alone. Exceptions will only be made for children 16 or under and patients with specific care needs. Please do not bring any other relative with you to any appointment.
Patients will need to wear a mask or facial covering along with loose easily removable clothing when attending their appointment to help us vaccinate as quickly and easily as possible. We have planned for as much social distancing as possible making it very safe to attend the surgery for your vaccination.
Our clinical team will have reviewed your record prior to your appointment and be aware of your medical history in order to give the vaccine safely. On the day of your appointment we will have a Doctor on site to oversee the vaccinations.
It only takes a few minutes to give your vaccination and having a flu vaccine annually remains the best way to protect against catching or spreading flu.

Your Medical Practice
Our eight partner practice offers a full range of primary care medical services to the communities of South Bradford. Our two male and eight female doctors are supported by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in providing clinics every weekday in our two purpose-built medical centres.
The practice has a strong training and development ethos demonstrated by its commitment to staff development and being both a training and teaching practice for doctors, nurses and medical students. This ethos enables the practice to be continually innovative, keeping up to date with current medical advances, and it allows our team to pass their experience on to future doctors and nurses.
We hope to use our surgery website as a way of presenting our patients with an up to date resource for all information relating to our practice. We will keep it current with any news, developments and details that are relevant to the practice and our patients.
